Deserted Village

Achill Deserted Village

Visit the haunted ruins of the Deserted Village on the slopes of Slievemore mountain, whose 130 houses were abandoned soon after the Great Famine of 1847.

Sea Swimming

Join local swimmers of Vitamin Sea  on their daily dip at 8.00am  weekdays, 10.00am at weekends, at Dugort Beach, next to the Strand Hotel and the Colony Tour.  Or Dooega Beach at 16.45pm.  All welcome. 365 days a years, hail, sun or storm. Just turn up with your togs and join the gang.

And after the chill, book your spot in the steam in the island’s two beachfront Wild Atlantic Saunas.

Enjoy the wandering sheep even if it’s scary on the road.

The reason for the colours on their wool is for farmers to know whose sheep is whose.
